Money transfer procedure

All outbound transfers can be made with the physical presence of the person sending the money and who must present the following documentation

If the sender:

  • has a European Union passport then he/she must present either his/her passport or his/her European Identity Card;
  • has a non-European passport then
    • for transfer amounts up to ˆ 1 000 he/she must present his/her passport;
    • for transfer amounts greater than ˆ 1 000 he/she must present his/her passport and his/her valid work permit (the Pink Slip).

The procedure for sending money is very easy and takes no more than 3 minutes to complete. The Sender is given a code number that he must communicate to the receiver to enable him/her to receive the money.

All inbound transfers should be collected by the individual named on the transfer and the personal identification documents above are again required with the difference that the Receiver should also advise the code number given to the Sender at the Sender’s Remitting Office.

Important Note: According to Central Bank of Cyprus regulations any single person cannot send or receive more than ˆ 3 000 per transfer.
